The 3-Step Morning Reset That Helped Me Feel Like Myself Again
I used to wake up feeling behind on the day all before my feet even hit the floor in the morning. What I didn’t realize at the time was that the choices I made first thing in the morning were actually causing these feelings.
Eating late.
Not drinking enough water.
Going to bed late.
Sleeping terribly.
Scrolling first thing in the morning.
Caffeine before breakfast (and sometimes skipping breakfast altogether).
Making excuses about why I didn’t need to move my body.
Not taking care of my mind throughout the day (hello, affirmations!)
What I didn’t know was how much I was working against my body. I was wrecking my hormones and pushing myself into a constant state of fight-or-flight, which spilled into every area of my life.
I was surviving and I wanted to be thriving- I just didn’t know where to begin when it came to a simple morning routine as a mom.
I didn’t want another complicated morning routine. I needed a realistic morning routine for moms. Something that fit the season of motherhood I was in.
Here’s the simple 3-step morning reset that’s actually stuck for me (and changed everything in the process):
Step 1: Nourish your body first, not your phone
Your body wakes up dehydrated, so your first move should always be water.
Before grabbing coffee or your caffeine of choice, try eating something small, even half a banana.
For me, my caffeine of choice for the past year has been Happy Juice. It’s a plant-based blend of pre-, pro-, and phytobiotics that support the gut-brain axis, along with functional nootropics and adaptogens.
(Quick fun fact: your gut communicates directly with your brain. Those choices I was making- late nights, stress, caffeine on an empty stomach- were actually telling my body to hold onto bloat, weight, and inflammation because it didn’t feel safe.)
Since switching, I’ve noticed improvements in my patience, mood, and motivation, and I finally feel like I’m showing up as my best self again.

Step 2: Create 10 minutes of peace before noise
You can fill in the blanks here- What does calm look like for you as a mom?
For me, it looks like red light therapy, deep breathing or EFT tapping, time in prayer and Scripture, journaling, or time blocking my day.
It doesn’t have to look perfect. It just has to give you a moment to center yourself before the world needs you.
Step 3: Move or stretch (even if it’s just 5 minutes)
Our energy as moms fluctuates for so many reasons, especially across different phases of our cycles. So, honor your body and do what feels best for you.
Tracking my cycle and sleep with my Ultrahuman Ring has been a total game changer. It helps me understand when to push and when to rest.
Even five minutes of stretching gives me more energy and focus to take on the day. Again, it’s not about perfection. Do your best and listen to your body!
